School Board Selects Next Superintendent of Schools
Earlier this evening the members of the Flagler County School Board unanimously chose Mr. James Tager as the next Superintendent of Schools. He was one of three finalists to emerge from a nationwide search who went through a three-day interview process.
Mr. Tager is currently principal of Atlantic High School in Port Orange, Florida. He has spent the past eleven years as a school or district administrator with Volusia County Schools. During his tenure as principal, school grades for New Smyrna Beach Middle School, and later New Smyrna Beach High School, went from a B to an A. During his term as deputy superintendent for Volusia Schools in 2014-15 the district grade rose from a C to a B.
Mr. Tager has a BA in Elementary Education and Special Education from Flagler College. Additionally, he received his Masters in Administration and Supervision from Nova Southeastern University. He began his teaching career in 1982.
Board Chairman Trevor Tucker and Board Attorney Kristy Gavin now begin the contract negotiation process with Mr. Tager. As previously advertised during the search process, the goal is to have a new Superintendent of Schools in place by June 1st.
